How Gloucester Toyota helps the community

February 18th, 2021 by

Gloucester Toyota proudly gives back to the local community every single year without exception. Our team genuinely cares about the well-being of locals in the greater Gloucester area and loves to serve the community. Though 2020 was a challenging year in nearly every regard, our team gave back to the Gloucester community in a number of ways. We do plenty of work in the Gloucester community yet our altruism is not always publicized in the community. Below, we provide an inside look into how the Gloucester Toyota team has put its altruistic spirit on display through 2020.

A Brand new Camry for the Boys and Girls Club

Our team is particularly proud of the fact that we provided the Gloucester Boys and Girls Club with a brand new Toyota Camry. The vehicle was presented by sales manager Cameron Barrow to the Club’s president and CEO, Hal Smith, on December 29. However, Barrow only temporarily safeguarded the car. The vehicle’s final destination will ultimately be determined based on the result of a raffle. The proceeds from the raffle are subsequently distributed to the Gloucester Boys and Girls Club.

A COVID-19 Day of Service in Tandem With the Salvation Army

It is not often you find car dealership personnel taking time out of their busy day to hand out grocery boxes to needy families. This is exactly what the Gloucester Toyota family did during the COVID-19 Day of Service in unison with the Salvation Army. Though Salvation Army donations are down across the board in 2020 as a result of the pandemic and the worldwide economic recession, we are committed to donating to this deserving charitable organization. Gloucester Toyota held a drive-thru food distribution event for local residents in need of sustenance. The donated food was dispersed to needy individuals throughout Gloucester and Mathews County.

The event took place on Friday, May 22 between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Those in need of food were invited to drive through the donation site with their trunks open in an effort to maintain social distancing. Our team members placed food in the open trunks. In fact, these food boxes also included select personal protective equipment (PPE) such as face masks and gloves. Examples of food distributed in these charitable boxes included canned goods, pasta, rice and cereal. Our team even went to the extent of giving Walmart gift certificates along with other helpful sundries to those in need. All in all, 240 boxes of food were distributed during the event. No pre-registration was required, ensuring needy locals could drive to the donation site and show proof of local residency to receive a box of food along with select PPE.
