Charity
Contributing to charities and participating in charity events is one of the ways Gloucester Toyota shows our customers we care about them. We’ve been a long-term supporter of philanthropic events and causes through sponsorships, donations, and grants.
Partnering with nonprofit organizations is the most effective method to further our commitment to impact the Virginia people and extend the time committed to Toyota’s charity work.
Charities We Work With
Below are a few of the nonprofits Gloucester Toyota has supported over the years:
Boys & Girls Clubs of the Virginia Peninsula
The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Virginia Peninsula (BGCVP) is a nonprofit organization founded in 1946 as the Boys Club of Newport News on 28th Street. BGCVP caters to over 6,000 children between ages 6 to 18 in and around the Virginia peninsula including clubs in Gloucester, Mathews, Williamsburg and Yorktown. They provide a healthy environment for their upkeep, growth, and opportunity to learn in STEAM fields.
Gloucester Toyota is proud to be a guardian of the BGCVP to help enhance the services provided to the community. At this year’s Dream Big-Win Big Raffle event, we donated a brand new 2022 Toyota Camry! Over 1,200 entries were made, and we were able to gift this car to a wonderful family on July 16th.
Bay School Community Arts Center
The Bay School Community Arts Center is dedicated to providing the means for people of all age brackets to interact with art on a whole new level. Founded originally as Mathews County School of Country Arts in 1997, the center has grown from a rural town initiative to a nonprofit organization with over 100 classes in the arts.
Providing people of all ages and abilities the opportunities to learn, experience, and appreciate the arts is at the forefront of their mission. To achieve this they sponsor and conduct educational workshops, provide a resource for lifelong learning, support local artists’ endeavors by offering space in their gallery, and aim to become a regional arts center and community asset by supporting all aspects of the arts.
Gloucester Toyota is proud to be a 2022 Art Speaks Gallery Program Sponsor. Our motivation to sponsor this year’s program came from the satisfaction of creatives achieving their lifelong dream at no cost.
Gloucester Daffodil Festival
The Gloucester Daffodil Festival is an annual celebration of Gloucester’s culture and its historical connection to the plant. Tourists had always visited the county for its large expanse of daffodils; the first known festival was held as early as the 1930s.
The event is mainly held during weekends within the first week of April. Scholarships, art, parades, and pageantry are some of the programs held during the festival. Our participation in the 2022 edition holds a soft spot in our hearts because of its significance. It was the first full-scale festival since 2019 and had a record attendance of over 25,000 people.
Urbanna Oyster Festival
Named in honor of the town’s favorite food, the Urbanna Oyster Festival is a yearly celebration and gathering of oyster lovers that has been held for over six decades. The popularity of the event earned it the tag of the official Commonwealth Oyster Festival.
Over 60,000 tourists attend this Virginia-based festivity and are hooked throughout the event due to the inclusivity of the activities. With our support, the organizers have kept tourists interested in events like antique car shows, wine, and craft beer tasting, the oyster festival parade, and the oyster shucking competition. This year’s event is slated to be held on November 4th and 5th.
