Toyota Tops Annual List from Insurance Institute for Highway Safety

January 4th, 2017 by

The 2017 list of Top Safety Pick earners has been issued, and the Toyota brand tops the ratings with 12 Toyota and Lexus cars and SUVs on the list. Several cars have demonstrated improvements, and all have passed the IIHS new headlights standards. You can learn more about Toyota’s crash avoidance features when you stop by Gloucester Toyota dealer serving Hampton Roads VA.

Operating Costs
Insurance costs go down when crash ratings are at their best. When a car earns the five-star federal designation and/or the Top Safety Pick Award, the car’s owner gets better rates. That’s a win for safety and a win for Toyota drivers.

Winning Cars and SUVs
Earning good in every category, these vehicles scored Top Safety Pick designations: Toyota Avalon and Toyota Yaris iA. The Avalon is a family sedan with a comfortable demeanor and driver-pleasing performance. The iA sedan is the newest member of the popular Yaris family. Other requirements include an available front crash prevention system and quality headlights.

Plus Winners
The Prius and Prius v were among Toyota’s Plus Award winners. The RAV4, Corolla and Camry were also the list. To earn the Plus award, these vehicles had to earn an advanced or superior rating for frontal crash prevention with automatic braking. Learn about pricing.

Check It Out
The Corolla is the first in its class to offer standard crash avoidance systems with automatic braking. There’s also a lane departure alert with an automated assist. Learn about financing.
